STORYTELLING

We all have a story to tell - a life story JB

The telling of a story, through the capture of an image, is to seek to understand before being understood. It’s about empathy and observation - a clasp of hands, the wrinkles on a face, context within the surroundings and world.

To spend time with a person, a place or a culture is a real privilege - a privilege of trust. Trust because it is only when you gain permission to get your camera out that you can enter into another world - their world. Trust also comes with a responsibility not to abuse or misrepresent, but to portray - a parallel combination of objective observation and the subjectivity of interpretation.
